Idaho security deposit law

Idaho landlords have 21 days to return a security deposit after you move out. State law sets no limit on the amount.

The deadline
Within 21 days after the tenant surrenders the premises unless the lease sets another time, and in no case later than 30 days.
Interest
Deposits held by a third-party manager must be kept in a separate account at a federally insured institution; no interest requirement.
Deductions
The landlord must give you an itemized list of anything kept from the deposit.
If it isn’t returned
No statutory multiple-damages penalty; the tenant may sue for the deposit (§ 6-320), and the prevailing party is entitled to attorney fees (§ 6-324).
