- 10 days if there is no damage, no cleaning, and no unpaid rent or utilities. Otherwise an itemized list plus the balance is due within 30 days.

- State law doesn’t require interest on the deposit.
- Deductions
- The landlord must give you an itemized list of anything kept from the deposit.
- If it isn’t returned
- The landlord is liable for the amount wrongfully withheld; the court may award attorney’s fees to the winner (MCA 70-25-204).
