New Jersey rent increase notice

New Jersey landlords must give at least 30 days’ notice before raising the rent on a month-to-month tenancy. There’s no statewide rent control.

Notice: The landlord must serve a notice to quit and a notice of the increase at least one month ahead. Increases may not be unconscionable (N.J.S.A. 2A:18-61.1(f)).
Rent control: No statewide rent control; municipalities may adopt local rent control or rent leveling ordinances.
