Indiana security deposit law

Indiana landlords have 45 days to return a security deposit after you move out and give a forwarding address. State law sets no limit on the amount.

Within 45 days after the tenancy ends and possession is delivered, with an itemized list of deductions; the landlord is not liable until the tenant provides a mailing address in writing.
Interest
State law doesn’t require interest on the deposit.
Deductions
The landlord must give you an itemized list of anything kept from the deposit.
If it isn’t returned
Tenant may recover the deposit due plus reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs; failing to send the itemized list is treated as agreeing that no damages are due.
