Ohio security deposit law

Ohio landlords have 30 days to return a security deposit after you move out and give a forwarding address. State law sets no limit on the amount.

Within 30 days after termination of the rental agreement and delivery of possession; the tenant must give a forwarding address in writing to claim damages.
Interest
5% annual interest on the portion exceeding the greater of $50 or one month’s rent, if the tenant stays 6 months or more; paid annually.
Deductions
The landlord must give you an itemized list of anything kept from the deposit.
If it isn’t returned
Tenant recovers the amount wrongfully withheld plus damages equal to that amount (double) and reasonable attorney’s fees.
