Texas rent increase notice

Texas landlords must give at least 30 days’ notice before raising the rent on a month-to-month tenancy. There’s no statewide rent control.

Notice: No rent-increase statute; a month-to-month rent change effectively requires the one-month notice used to end the tenancy.
Rent control: Cities may adopt rent control only after finding a disaster-related housing emergency and with the governor’s approval (Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code § 214.902).
