Connecticut late fee law

Connecticut landlords must wait 9 days after rent is due before charging a late fee, and the fee can’t be more than the lesser of $5 per day up to $50, or 5% of the delinquent rent.

No late charge until rent is more than 9 days late (4 days for a one-week tenancy), and only if the lease provides for it in writing.
Limits on the fee
Only one late charge per delinquent payment. For subsidized tenancies, 5% of the tenant’s share.
