Oregon security deposit law

Oregon landlords have 31 days to return a security deposit after you move out. State law sets no limit on the amount.

The limit
No statutory limit; a landlord may not require a new or increased deposit during the first year of the tenancy (except by agreement, e.g., for a pet).
The deadline
Within 31 days after the tenancy ends and the tenant delivers possession, with a written accounting of any amount claimed.
Interest
State law doesn’t require interest on the deposit.
Deductions
The landlord must give you an itemized list of anything kept from the deposit.
If it isn’t returned
Twice the amount withheld without a written accounting or withheld in bad faith.
